Employment:

2003        Research Associate with Dan McFarland, Stanford University Dept. Education / Sociology.  Developed prototype software (SoNIA, Social Network Image Animator) for visualizing and animating time-based network data.  Assisted with research on interaction and classroom networks, wrote code for processing and analyzing data. 

2001
    Programer/Devloper at the University of Chicago Social Science Research Computing department. Worked on implementation and devlopment of dynamic network visualisation tools for the REPAST agent-based Java simulation package. Also devloped java utility programs for formatting and animating social network data.

2001     NSF Research Experience for Undergraduates Intern at the Santa Fe Institute. Worked under John Padgett doing agent-based simulations in the Java REPAST simulation environment, and developing small Java applications for converting Padgett's Florentine marriage and economic data into formats readable by the network visualization and analysis software, Pajek.

2000     Intern with the Project for Public Spaces, Inc. in New York. PPS is a non-profit urban design advocacy and consulting organization. duties included graphics, on-site photography, web troubleshooting, equipment organization, and project assistance.

1999     Intern with CART'M, a non-profit recycling and reuse organization in Manzanita OR. Assisted in set up, organization, planning, and daily functioning of CART'M's new site at the local transfer station.

1998     Intern with the Center for Maximum Potential Building Systems in Austin TX. Worked under Pliny Fisk doing light fabrication /general labor on the CMBPS demonstration house. Also did some computer work on projects under the Center's DOE planning grant.

1997-2001    Master Carpenter/Stage Hand in the Bennington College scene shop and theatre spaces. Duties included light construction, small crew supervision, fabrication, rigging, general labor, etc.

Education/Awards:

2001     BA from Bennington College, Bennington VT. Major in Cultural Mechanics. Thesis: Information transmission in social groups: communication, networks, and interaction.
