I would greatly appreciate any
comments on the text and ideas discussed in this site. I normally check
the following addresses: I graduated from Bennington College in
June 2001, Worked at the Santa Fe Institute in New Mexico for another
short bit, then at the University of Chicago on a project. Went back
home to the Oregon coast to kick it for a couple of months, stay away
from computers, and collect my thoughts. In the beginning of 2002 I
went to S. America for a while, bummed most of the length of Chile,
across Boliva, and saw some excitement in Argintina. Then a period of
confused coast-to-coast bouncing, one month working in Budapest, a zip
trip across Romania, Bulgaria to Turkey, and spent 8 months pounding
keys for Dan McFarland doing sociology/network visualization stuff at
Stanford. Also tried to avoid Palo Alto, enjoy SF. I eventually located
the Brass Liberation Orchestra, and went to jail for the first time.
When the stanford thing finished, I moved back to oregon to help
friends build an organic farmstead. I guess I'm in that "transitional" phase
which follows when released from an (academic) institution. I'm
still doing research on social network visualization. I'd like to
keep studying cultural transmission, and start learning more small
scale economic theory. I'm hoping to find a place to study that
seems a good fit. I feel a need to do a lot of inquiry about
contemporary culture and social systems, with an emphasis on how to
facilitate favorable change. I'm also devloping kind of an
obsession with balkan brass bands. <--- Skye trying to look intellectual and intense ;-) [Research Interests..] [Current Resume..] |
