{"id":659,"date":"2014-02-04T21:57:09","date_gmt":"2014-02-05T05:57:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/skyeome.net\/wordpress\/?p=659"},"modified":"2014-02-07T16:43:01","modified_gmt":"2014-02-08T00:43:01","slug":"r-package-ndtv-update-workshop-examples","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/skyeome.net\/wordpress\/?p=659","title":{"rendered":"R package ndtv update + workshop + examples"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Finally got the update to the R dynamic network visualization package <a href=\"http:\/\/cran.r-project.org\/web\/packages\/ndtv\/\">ndtv 0.5.1<\/a> out the door and up on CRAN.  This is part of the yearly flurry of statnet package releases (we also posted new versions of network, networkDynamic, ergm, etc, over the last week) in preparation for running <a href=\"https:\/\/statnet.csde.washington.edu\/trac\/wiki\/Sunbelt2014\">workshops<\/a> at the INSNA Sunbelt social network analysis conference.  This year will be a first for me, we will be running a pre-conference <a href=\"http:\/\/sunbelt2014.org\/?q=tpc19\">ndtv workshop<\/a> on 2\/18\/14, so I&#8217;ve been working to pull tutorial materials together. <\/p>\n<p>One of the new experimental features in this release is a &#8220;proximity.timeline&#8221; function, a first stab at doing <a href=\"http:\/\/skyeome.net\/wordpress\/?p=604\">relationship timelines<\/a>. The horizontal axis is simulation timesteps and the vertical dimension is geodesic proximity collapsed to 1D. Below is a proximity.timeline plot for the short.stergm.sim example object, showing a changing component with four isolates which eventually breaks into two components around time 20.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/skyeome.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/proximityTimeline.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/skyeome.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/proximityTimeline.png\" alt=\"proximityTimeline\" width=\"437\" height=\"434\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-661\" srcset=\"http:\/\/skyeome.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/proximityTimeline.png 437w, http:\/\/skyeome.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/proximityTimeline-150x150.png 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 437px) 100vw, 437px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\nFor comparison, here is a &#8220;filmstrip&#8221; (small multiple plot) version of the same network. The pure similarity and distance versions are a bit challenged because the range of weights is larger than the feasible range of plot distances.
